Ask EDD is the official secure-message option for PFL
EDD directs claimants with a Paid Family Leave question to use Ask EDD for a secure message. This can be useful when you need a documented written question but do not require an immediate phone conversation.
Ask EDD is an official EDD service. Open it from the EDD website rather than following an unexpected message or advertisement.
The current PFL question path
- Open Ask EDD from the official EDD contact or self-service page.
- Select the category “Paid Family Leave.”
- Select the sub-category “Miscellaneous Inquiry.”
- Select the topic “Other (Questions).”
- Include enough information on the official form for EDD to understand the specific issue.
EDD says information submitted through these electronic forms is kept private.
Good reasons to use a written question
- Your claim status or payment history does not explain what action is needed.
- You need to ask which official form or document applies.
- You want a secure record of a non-urgent claim question.
- You need to report a change that EDD directs PFL claimants to submit through Ask EDD.
EDD does not publish a guaranteed response time for every question. Do not use an expected reply to ignore a deadline shown on an EDD notice.
When a phone conversation may still be appropriate
Call the official PFL line if EDD directs you to call, if you need to discuss a claim-start-date question before filing, or if the written option does not fit the issue. Review when to contact EDD about a PFL claim for common examples.
ConnectEDD cannot send Ask EDD messages, view replies, or access your claim.
