DE 429DF shows a potential benefit amount

The PFL Notice of Computation (DE 429DF) is not an approval notice. It shows the potential weekly benefit based on wage information. EDD asks you to contact it promptly about incorrect wages, dates, or missing employers.

Keep the notice beside your payroll records. First identify the entry that looks wrong; that makes a correction question easier to explain than simply saying the payment should be higher.

Compare the same wage period

EDD bases the calculation on the highest-earning quarter in the claim’s base period, using qualifying wages paid roughly 5–18 months before leave. Your current salary or take-home pay may describe a different period or amount.

Use the PFL benefit-amount guide to understand the base period and find EDD’s calculator. A calculator result is an estimate, not a replacement for EDD’s review.

For your comparison, make three columns in a private note: “notice entry,” “my record,” and “question for EDD.” For example, an employer absent from the notice belongs on its own line with the relevant paystubs, rather than being mixed into a total covering several years.

Prepare a wage-correction question

  • Notice: keep all pages of DE 429DF and note the claim it concerns.
  • Employer: compare the employer’s legal or payroll name with your paystub or W-2.
  • Dates: arrange the relevant records by pay date and quarter.
  • Amount: identify the particular wage entry you believe is missing or incorrect.
  • Question: ask which evidence and submission method EDD needs to review the discrepancy.

A useful starting point is: “My DE 429DF shows [entry] for [period]. My payroll record shows [difference]. What should I submit for a wage review?” Share the actual identifiers and records only through EDD’s official channels.

EDD states that an established valid claim’s start date and base period cannot be changed. A question about correcting wage information should not be treated as permission to choose a different start date after filing.

An amount question and a payment question need different records

If the wage information appears correct but money has not arrived, check the payment-delay guide. If EDD has issued a denial, read the determination and appeal instructions.

Before contacting EDD, write down which answer you need: correction of a wage entry, explanation of a calculation, or the status of an issued payment. Keep a dated note of the response and any next step EDD gives you.

Help with repeated calling

Want ConnectEDD to handle the redialing?

ConnectEDD handles repeated calling and requests a California PFL callback to your authorized phone number when the option is available. Callback availability and timing can vary.

You may call EDD yourself for free. ConnectEDD is a paid convenience for the repeated-calling portion and does not represent you or access your claim.
